The ABI Collaborative is committed to working with the community and stakeholders to promote partnerships. As a result, the North Simcoe Muskoka ABI Regional Advisory Committee has been established.
The makeup of this committee spans across sectors and across the continuum.
Membership includes:
- Survivor representatives
- Family representatives
- One representative from each primary ABI community service provider
- NorthSimcoe Muskoka LHIN Home and Community Care
- York Simcoe Brain Injury Services
- Brain Injury Services Muskoka Simcoe
- Ontario March of Dimes Canada
- Addiction agencies representatives
- Mental health agency representatives
- Central East Stroke Network representative
- Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit representative
- Independent Living Services of Simcoe County and Area
- Hospital rehabilitation representatives from various planning areas
The goals of the ABI Regional Advisory Committee are:
- To guide and monitor the development of the ABI service system in North Simcoe Muskoka
- To collectively identify priorities and establish strategies and action plans
- To provide a formalized structure to give feedback to the North Simcoe Muskoka Local Health Integration Network and other health care, social support providers and interested parties regarding the needs and priorities of individuals with acquired brain injury
- To establish relationships with regional and/or provincial initiatives that could impact on individuals with acquired brain injury
- To promote increased education, awareness and health promotion with regard to individuals with acquired brain injury
